Juneteenth/NAACP (final)

Juneteenth/NAACP Gathering Avery Park Corvallis June 9th Saturday June 9th an event happened down at Avery park that not only symbolized community but us coming together as a people to eliminate raced based discrimination. Now I see the title of this article maybe a tad confusing, your not reading that wrong. the NAACP and Juneteenth were happening in the same place at the same time. What is Juneteenth you might be wondering, according to Juneteenth's website sheds light on this as "Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free." Angel Harris, Corvallis June 9th Angel Harris, was the comity chair for 2018, for the 4th annual gathering the biggest issue for Mrs. Harris is that the number of people who don'

Tangent, This Badgers Home "Town"

Tangent City Hall This is City Hall of Tangent, back in this reporters younger years when things were simpler, this used to be a home of a woman the entire elementary school next door thought was the lair of the "Crazy Cat Lady" There was a simple rumor that passed through the school about when the woman died. The rumor was that when the owner died she left her entire estate to her cats. Remember this is just hearsay but what made it stick is that some of the teachers at the school made comments about the cats owning the house next door.   Tangent Elementary This is the school this reporter went to as a child, far to the right of this photo is City Hall (first photo). This is the spot I would sit every day for lunch back in the day, most left me alone but that was the the favored outcome for this reporter. Years after my departure from this school it seems the only thing that has changed is the brightly colored paying equipment in the background.  The Los

Julia Yee

Julia Yee Mrs. Yee is an instructor here at LBCC. Mrs. Yee teaches a class that is a light workout for those who have issues with, disabilities from life changing events such as injury, old age or even recovering from surgery. The current class size is about 15, so if you have mobility issues this class could help you in leaps and bounds. This 50min class is meets three times a week from 12:00 to 12:50 in Luckiamute hall in room 130. Mrs. Yee has 10+ years of experience in being an instructor. The biggest struggle is not her class mind you, that was the easy part. The learning of a new culture when she came to the states was the biggest issue she faced. Mrs. Yee is well adapted to the culture of the U.S.A and has even gotten a motto for her class. "listen to your body" and that is quite a note worth moment in ones life, when one looks to an unknown situation and comes out on top. Many props to you Mrs. Yee do not loose that spark that keeps your students coming back.

Gillian Chase This young woman is not only taking classes at LBCC but she is also duel enrolled at OSU. currently Mrs. Chase is taking classes in pre-med and wishes to shed light on the devastation of HIV and AIDES. Just cause an individual has Aides or HIV does not mean to just give up. Aides is no longer a death sentence in our time.  Mrs Chase is and has made networks in V.A.I.N (Valley Aides Information Network) to get the message out there that your not alone, you don't need to take on this beast alone but you need to make the first step to assistance. Lets get out there and get people's attention!

Anime Club Prez

Image
Makayla Atwood Mrs. Atwood is the president of the Linn Benton Community Collage Anime club, The club got its start in January of 2018. Thats right the Anime club is a new club here on campus that was formed this last winter. The main objective of the Anime club as it stands is to gain membership and different anime ideas to watch and discuss. The members currently meet up at NSH 206 on Thursdays from 15:00 to 16:00. The love for anime and assistance from a drama club on this same campus. With that experience making of the anime club looks to be an easy achievement form an outside perspective Mrs. Atwood would most likely disagree fully about forming and keeping a club intact being easy.  This reporter is sending out the call to arms for all us Anime Freaks come join and let your inner Otaku out!

He joined the AP in 1956 and photographed conflicts in Algeria and central Africa before being assigned to Vietnam in 1962. Mr. Faas became the chief photographer. This allowed Mr. Haas was also a key figure in getting Eddie Adam's "Execution heard Around the World."  (2)- The risks taken by Faas to get his pictures were enormous, and on at least one occasion he was fortunate to survive. On December 6 1967 he was wounded in the legs by a rocket-propelled grenade at Bu Dop, in South Vietnam’s Central Highlands.  Faas was a shrewd planner, and could secure journalistic scoops by antici

Bert Guptill

Bert Guptill (aka OG-P.I.T.A)                   Mr. Guptill has been standing up for healthcare for several years, decades even, prior and durring Obamas administration, this former writing teacher really kicked his rear in gear when Bernie Sanders ran for president on 2016. The self proclaimed "oldest millennial" has a heavy dislike for the labels like Red or Blues, Republican or Democrat. All these labels do is divide the people and make it easier to control the masses.  Don't live in fear because labels will soon follow. In closing this Berniecrat has set up the Wave To Save movement that has helped ban lead shots for hunting in the late 60's The group seems to have gone to sleep, with the rising tide and the midterms elections coming up gives this P.I.T.A a chance to be that thorn in in the ass of the establishment. Go get them Mr. Guptill, the youth of this country are starting to wake up and when they are done with their metaphorical coffee we will be a

Week 5 Blog Forum

The time Mrs. Addario spent in Lybia sounds horrifying, watching the revolution and seeing how some people fought with rocks againsts assault chopper.   One thing; that made an impression that only once a day could Mrs. Addario could talk to her husband this shows how hard it is to get communication in but out as well. The second thing; is watching bombs drop trying to guess where they would land its one of those things you cant explain...only live through, enough said.  Sacrifices? This lady made sacrifices our current media only wishes the had the stones to do like for starters She is in a warzone being shot at by loyalest soldiers as if she was a freedom-fighter dont make me get too into this one, haha.  This lady has seen many things in her days as a photojournalist many photos that held so much information makes it almost impossible to choose just one.

Extreme Velocity Tactical

Mike Westphal, Ruben Beltran, and Eric Randall Extreme Velocity Tactical The hosts of this event had a profound impact on the mood of the lobby as the airsofters got ready for the next fight. Super fun super cheep 25$ to start and it comes with 5,000 bb's pretty good deal if you ask me. This mock-war-time reporter got put under massive pressure being tossed onto a battleground armed with nothing more than a camera and hope. As the bb's whistled past this reporters head and flash-bang grenades going off close by, his reporter survived to tell the tail. (haha, just fun and games here) Hold The Line! Week 4 blog form

The best photo I have taken on a personal opinion has to be week 3 Chelsea Nofzinger's main photo, the reason is the lighting and the wind decided to work with me rather than against me Normally I have to fight with the wind even when talking to people, haha.  Mark Cumo, my first ever picture subject for this class has to be the worst, I didn't know how to use the camera properly and the wind and cooking equipment was everywhere with a little dash of paranoia of braking a expensive camera, Week 1 had to be the worst one The skill I feel that needs to be mastered, at the very least worked on is my ability to get in close to my subject. Getting a good mug shot is key to getting a good report. I can do an overview shot but a close up is still hard work for me. Hopefully I can get over that issue with a longer ranged lens on the camera

Joel Adams  A professional artist for 16 years and worked on projects such as King Of The Hill. Mr. Adams grew up in a family of artists so it wasn't really hard to find his path in life. Mr. Adams brought a cleaner art style to the show King of the Hill with visible changes between episodes 1-6 his work is not that hard to see unless your really trying or you just don't watch the show.  "Somethin ain't right bout that boy Peggy"-Hank Hill Artist- Joel Adams Name- Anonymous  This event has made the call not to just artist but to steam punk lovers and cosplayers, furries and blacksmiths. For a moderate event quite a few people showed up to strut their stuff even though the power was out for several blocks including at this event. Many of those in the event had glow sticks and lightsabers. Also if you are a Star Wars fan, the 501st legion was there with custom Mandalorian equipment and personalized lightsabers. Frederick Dorsey Jr. Mr. Dorsey was raised in the busy hustle and bustle of city life and eventually got tired of it and came to one of Linn counties small communities. (I'm seeing a pattern in this blog) After his time in the Army Mr. Dorsey has developed a stable life with two sons and a lovely wife, and is employed as a Waste Water Treatment Operator. Do not be fooled, the ambition on Mr. Dorsey is only beginning. With a splash of tenacity and hardheaded will to improve himself and his children this father will complete any and all tasks set before him. In five years Mr. Dorsey hopes to be a land owner with his own home but one of his hardest challenges in his life would have to be "longterm focus" and still live in the present. When things get to be a little to much for Mr. Dorsey a road trip normally clears his head of most if not all burdensome thoughts. This comes in handy when dealing with arrogant people on a daily basis. Mr. Dorsey also gave a thought pro

Chelsea Nofzinger This new mother with a soft spot for small towns chose to raise her child in one of the small farm communities in Linn county. "It's tough being a mom in this day and age with mouth and throat cancer, but life keeps going with or without you." her dreams are not very big, but very important. Provide for her son regardless the situation put in front of her. Mrs. Nofzinger wishes to be a stay-at-home mom, but with the difficulties of life she has taken up post as lead cook at "Schmizza Public House" refusing to let life tell her to be and stay disabled, she spends her free time hiking and slowly getting into rock climbing. The hardest job Mrs. Nofzinger had was working with elderly at nursing homes and those with Alzheimer. "I couldn't form a meaningful relationship just to watch them slowly pass away, I just couldn't do it anymore." One of the biggest goals of Mrs. Nofzinger is that she hopes to be debt free in 5 years

Jack Kraft Still a young man of 22 years of age Jack Kraft was a native born Oregonian who at a young age had to move away to Hawaii. He brought back a little clarity form the islands. Hawaii is not a tropical dream land that most of you think about. This young man spent the majority of his time throughout middle school and high school talking fellow students out of suicide and abusive relationships. Not only did he complete his schooling with flying colors Mr. Kraft still made time to come to the aid of EVERYONE in need. Yes you heard that right, even if he didn't know you. If someone warned Mr. Kraft that you in danger of self harm Mr. Kraft would somehow find you and if needed sit up with you into the early mornings. "If I have a chance to save someone's life it was worth it." I strongly issue a challenge to the reader, find a resident of Hawaii and read about their lives on the islands, from $15 for a gallon of milk, to the issue of roads just being glo

Brandon Hess A true inspiration to his offspring. This man has worked many'a day working from sun up to sun down, often times going weeks or months without seeing the sun inside the walls of the saw mills of Oregon. Mr. Hess also graduated from LBCC with two degrees to officially become a journeymen millwright, basically a high payed repair man man to heavy mechanical devises. Through his struggle to put food on the table Mr. Hess was in cage fighting then the Navy prior to his saw-milling days, this taught him patents not only with stupid people but with his children as well. He may not be the run of the mill dad (pun intended) but Mr. Hess has always tackled his work with 100% effort. Mr. Hess often had a saying that sheds light on not only on his life but the life of his children. "Win or loose you wont forget my name." - Brandon Hess

Scott Gall This is one hard working father, from heating ducts to laying out compost on a flower bed, from knife maker to fisher. All hours of the day normally spoken for its hard to get out and clear ones head let alone recover from being sick, yet each task gets done. A fan of target shooting with his Ak-47 helps this man clear his head. This is cheaper and more effective in dealing with ones issues rather than cursing at thick headed individuals. A passing dream of his would be to see America in the 40's and witness the unity in our country as we "Kick Fascism's @$$"

Mark Cumo A veteran of the American Dream, owning his own business, from teaching manners to the food truck Mr. Cumo worked the line with both hands. The loss of his wife earlier 2018 has been hard for this man, that only adds passion in the food he produces. Im not a vegetarian in the slightest but Cafe Cuomo makes a mean Veggie wrap. The best advice of one of his experience  "Be Kind."
